Whats McGroyne up to

Yes I havent made an entry in forever -  I'm a sheep, I'm forgetful, deal with it.

McGroyne is back from a successful Pennsic 36. Everyone had fun, minor sickness and car tragedies but everyone made it home safe. Cant wait for our town run to be over and do it again.

Its Faire time We can be found singly or enmasse most weekends at the Maryland Rennaisance Festival in Crownsville MD - check it out. LOTS of us will be there Labor Day weekend.

Remember, we love ewe,

 -- Alma

Katrina update
Just an update on your McGroyne brothers and sisters who are in New Orleans and or the coastal Mississippi areas affected by Katrina.
At the current time just about all the clan is accounted for save Bartlett aka Link McGroyne. Everybody got out ok prior to the storm or were far enough inland that the most that happened was a power loss.
Several folks in the group do have relatives in that area though and are frantically trying to find out info but the McGroynes themselves appear ok. I hope that Link found high ground - but he's smart so he wouldn't have stayed around to see if he had enough alcohol content in the blood to float. Since others who know him there and have reported in aren't sounding alarms we're gonna assume all is well with our brother.

MD Renaissance Faire anyone?
Pennsic is over, Renn Faire is starting. Quick, clean that garb and get thee to the Faire!

Some of the clan will be in attendance. We tend to congregate at the White Hart tavern.

If you've never been to this Faire it's well worth the price of admission.

See you there.

Pennsic 34 a success
Well we survived Pennsic. I hope that you, gentle reader, had a good time if you went.
This year was full of fun and battles and a disaster a day it seemed. Limb and eye injuries abounded amongst the clan but nothing serious or permanently maiming.
Kisan came in 4th in the Miss Swampy competition and made the clan proud and the menfolk randy.
The Generic Mercs put in a good showing for the East kicking butt in all the battles and gaining more renown.
The Order of the Ewe served Stonemarche proudly and were properly trounced in the heavilly outnumbered rapier battles but still held high the standard of the Ewe.
The target archers (19 of them)scored a whopping 36 points for Stonemarche and the East. Great job!

Now its time for MD Renn Faire, mundane holidays and just plain taking it easy until next year.
Have a good one

Off to Frelling Night
Ah Frelling Night or what everyone else calls Zero Night at Pennsic War. Party on the battlefield. Nap a little before landgrab if you're lucky.
Many of the clan are now heading north-ish to Cooper's Lake Campground.
We look forward to seeing all our Pennsic friends at the war, it's been a long town run and I for one am looking forward to returning home.

While at war, say hi to McGroyne, watch the BarCod warriors of the Generic Mercs and generally have a good time. We'll see you there!

Eleventh hour siege!
Mood:  celebratory
Dragan McGroyne, commander of the Generic Mercs reports:
We are now equipped with an authorized Siege Engine and four authorized seige engineers. On Sunday 7/31, at just shy of the 7PM we got Hanlin, Moon, Huggin and myself authorized in the use of a beautiful ballista that fires four foot long, 1 pound arrows ~45-50 yards with ~3 yard precision.

We should be able to very effectively rain death into or out of the castle and on the bridge.

Congrats to our Doozer team and the Siege engineers! Look out world the Generic Mercs are even more dangerous.

Target Archers and Rapier fighters hired for war
The main heavy force of the Generic Mercs had already been hired by Lord Angus Kerr to fight with the Northern Army again this year.
We received an inquiry and Dragan allowed the Target archers and Rapier unit to go off separately.
We've been sold to the East as representing the Barony of Stonemarche. (Still under the Northern Army)
Favors and a dinner are to be presented to the Target Archers and the Order of the Ewe at a Baronial court at war by their Excellencies Baroness Maria Pagani and Baron Juan Lazaro Ramirez Xavier. Thanks to Lord Diomedes Sebastianus VonDrachenklaue for making this great offer of employment.

Kings Assessment results
We have a newly minted Rapier fighter.
Idunna McGroyne has now taken her place as an authorized fighter. She successfully authorized in Heavy Rapier and will now join the Order of the Ewe on the battlefield. Congrats Deaconess Idunna.

On a sad note, the Scorpion siege engine managed to break before the team could authorize. It wont be making it to war this year but now the Doozers have a longer time frame to make it perfect and truly fearsome to our enemies.

BUT to offset this loss, Mark McGroyne entered the A&S competition and won one of the categories.
The competition was for disguising mundane items as period and he won the wood working category for a barrel cooler he's been making.
